Donald Trump to Try to Help Enrique Peña Nieto After Quake

United States is sending "urgently" a wide team of experts specializing in search and rescue operations for people trapped in the rubble. President Donald Trump spoke this Wednesday morning with his Mexican counterpart, Enrique Peña Nieto, to offer assistance and help in ongoing work in Mexico City after the very recent earthquake.

The Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, told a press conference that they are a "perfectly trained for this type of circumstances" team and it's already on its way to the Mexican capital as "heavy machinery". "The images that arrive break one's heart", admitted the head of US diplomacy, who indicated that there are other possible avenues of assistance if requested.

The powerful quake caused dozens of buildings collapses. The White House does not detail the number of troops or the precise mission they will have once they are deployed. The US government, which is also grappling with efforts to recover areas hit by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, says the offer "is a testament to the good relations" between the two countries.

"We will help as we can," Tillerson reiterated, "We remain very aware of the situation." Trump already came a few hours after the earthquake to social networks to express support for the Mexican people in this time of difficulty. After the earthquake of September 7, it took almost a week to react and attributed to communication problems not having spoken with Peña Nieto.
