At Least 105 Children Killed Because of Floods

According to the Red Cross, the torrential landslides produced in Freetown surprised many residents as they slept.

At least 105 children are among the more than 300 deaths caused by the floods that devastated the Sierra Leonean capital early on Monday, officials said on Wednesday.


The official balance of victims is at least 312 dead, but sources of the morgue mention about 400 dead and some missing. "We have received 105 children in the morgue," said an employee of the Connaught Hospital morgue, Mohamed Sinneh Kamara.
